I first became familiar with SmartClinic while on the clinical faculty at the University of South Florida College of Medicine. As a member of a selected team of individuals investigating informatics options, I was intrigued by the applicability, adaptability, scalability, and ease of use of this system. I became convinced that this was a superior product, capable of pleasing the most fastidious user. I have been an end-user of this product since 2000, and I could not be more pleased with its performance. Designed by physicians and database geniuses, SmartClinic allows the user to create an accurate and organized medical record that has a simple user interface. It allows for point-of-care documentation, customization of patient care plans, and customization of reports; that appear intelligent and readable in a well-organized fashion (rather than generating documents that appear “computer-generated”). SmartClinic allows the physician to remain compliant with his or her billing requirements, and rapidly supply the appropriate documentation to validate the claim (when necessary). Data can also be transmitted electronically to physicians’ offices and hospitals to assist with the timeliness of updating records, and to facilitate patient care in other locations. This is a full-featured program, which is sure to please the most demanding physician practices. This fully-certified EMR provides for all current “Meaningful Use” data requirements, including electronic prescribing, and will provide a continuous instrument to improve practice efficiency and ultimately benefit patient-satisfaction and treatment efficiency.

Our office was an early adopter in EHR about 10 years ago now. We chose SmartClinic at that time due to its ease of usage and robust capabilities at handling the many faceted aspects of primary care practice. Now that we are achieving meaningful use attestation from Medicare and seeking NCQA PCMH certification, we are again in need of a full functioned product and have found the folks at VIP Medicine a good partner at delivering that need. Their reports are in fact more extensive than many competitors costing much more than our system. Our consultants tell us so! Right now we are hoping to add a disease registry relationship associated with our EHR to suggest and aggregate data of recommended care for our patients and expect the same close partnership with the support group from SC.

I have been using Smart Clinic/VIP Medicine’s EMR since 2002. The service support has been excellent and prompt. The system is easy to use and learn.  The main screen contains the HPI, PMH, meds, allergies, and current diagnosis in an easily visible format. It is an just a click to get to labs, vaccines, family history or other items that are needed.  I have been able to interface with Lab Corp and Quest and our labs arrive daily in our computer in a format that can be graphed and monitored. Although I was dreading dealing with “meaningful use”, the reports that are generated are actually very helpful in identifying areas for improvement in my practice.  Those reports specifically identify the patients on which I need to concentrate.  Most reassuring is that the medical students who rotate through my office routinely report that of all the EMR systems to which they have been exposed, ours is the most easy to learn and navigate.  I completely recommend Smart Clinic/VIP medicine to my colleagues and others.
